We recently commented on Verizon’s 2012 Data Breach Investigations Report . Other reports have been released since that time, including this one from a private security company relating to data breach information for the government sector covering the period January 1, 2009 to May 31, 2012.
This report presents alarming statistics relating to 268 incidents of data breaches in which 94 million records containing sensitive information were exposed. Clifton Gonsalves, bTrade’s VP of Engineering and a software security expert, had this to say about the report:
